Wipe the blades between services with a folded soft cloth, fingers behind it and away from the edge, moving from pivot to tip. Treat the PVD coating like bare steel: the edge, pivot and any scratch remain exposed, and the surface can scratch, wear or lose colour. Servicing can take colour from the sharpened margin.

Disinfect for the full contact time required by the local rule and label, rinse if directed and dry completely. Oil the clean pivot only after drying. Before adjusting, remove grit and use the supplied key in very small increments; persistent gritty action needs bearing service.

A convex edge goes only to a sharpener who works convex scissor geometry on water-cooled scissor equipment, or back to the maker. Never home-hone a convex edge: a stone, a strop or a knife sharpener flattens the hollow inner face and the ride line, and once that geometry is ground away it does not come back.

Never case a damp pair. A closed case holds water and chemical residue against the steel, so the blades and the pivot are dried completely before the scissors go back in the case.
